As seen in this video from Cinema5D, Zacuto are innovating yet again with their new Plasma Light prototype they showed off at NAB this week. Brighter and cooler-running than already very low-heat LED lights, but softer and easier on the talent’s eyes, these lights look really promising. If the price at launch really is $500 below competing lighting products, these will be certain to sell well.

One thing I’d like to know about (and I’m sure these details will be made available closer to launch) is whether or not this fixture will feature adjustable color temperature, similar to the Kino Flo Celeb 200 LED fixture. While this isn’t a deal breaker, it’s definitely a nice touch, and could really come in handy when you want to match the color of available light without the exposure loss that accompanies using gels (or when you want to set the light to some off-color and don’t have the proper gel for it).
